About > History City Savings Bank It was on Valentine’s Day in 1928 that City Savings Bank obtained its state charter to conduct business in Louisiana. In May of that year, the new bank opened its doors for business in Beauregard Parish. Since that first day, City Savings Bank has offered quality financial service to the people of Southwest Louisiana. P.W. West, the bank’s first president and chairman of the board, along with other initial investors had a belief in the people of Beauregard Parish that they would support a new bank. City Savings Bank’s early beginnings were during a time when the country was headed toward the worst economic crisis in history. The Great Depression was in the bank’s near future. Sound judgment and prudent banking decisions by the new bank’s management helped City Savings Bank weather the turbulent 1930s. While banks all across the country were being closed by federal regulators, City Savings Bank was growing and serving its customers. City Savings Bank has the distinction of being one of the oldest banks in Southwest Louisiana. Today, sound judgment and prudent decisions by the bank’s present management have helped City Savings Bank provide the people of Southwest Louisiana with continuous financial services. The current board of directors and management understand the bank’s important position in taking the lead to stimulate the local economy.
